On June 30, 1985 Michael Phelps was born. He began swimming at the age of seven. Michael qualified for his first Olympic Swim Team in 2000- he was fifteen. He was the youngest swimmer to compete for the US in the Olympics in 68 years. He made the finals in the 200 Fly where he finished fifth. In 2003, he said in an interview that “anyone in the (swimming) world would love to win seven or more gold medals” like Mark Spitz had done, but taking a step and winning just one would be “perfectly fine” with him. In Athens (2004), Phelps came home with 8 Medals- 6 Gold, 2 Bronze. In Beijing (2008), he did what nobody thought he could do. He won Gold in all 8 events he swam, breaking the record Spitz had set in 1972. London (2012) was Phelps’ final Olympics. He finished with 6 Medals- 4 Gold, 2 Silver. He retired as the Most Decorated Olympian of All Time (18G, 2S, 2B), and arguably the Greatest Olympian of All Time.
also arguably the hottest olympian of all time
